Before You Get In: Coconut Oil from Head to Toe
Lather coconut oil from head to toe — yes, all over — before you step in.
This creates a protective barrier so chlorine and pool chemicals can't directly contact your skin.
Think of it as a natural shield. It takes 2 minutes and it changes everything.
After You Get Out:
3-Step Rinse Protocol
Rinse off immediately. Don't let chlorine sit on your skin.
Spray Vitamin C water (See below on how to make it) all over your body to neutralize chlorine chemically. Let it sit for one minute.
Rinse off completely, pat dry, then moisturize.
DIY
Vitamin C Spray
• 1 tsp vitamin C powder
• 1 cup distilled water
Dissolve, pour into a dark glass spray bottle. Make a fresh batch every few days — Vitamin C degrades quickly in water.
Important Note for Eczema Skin
This swap is especially important for little ones with active eczema.
Standard vitamin C powder (ascorbic acid) can sting on raw, broken, or inflamed skin.
If you're in a flare or have open areas, swap to sodium ascorbate instead — it's the buffered, pH-neutral form of vitamin C. It neutralizes chlorine just as effectively, but is much gentler on reactive skin. Same recipe, same results, zero sting.
This swap is especially important for little ones with active eczema.
Chlorine doesn't just irritate — it strips your skin barrier, triggers flares, and worsens TSW. Protect yourself before you ever step foot in that pool.
